Using this book, I've walked every step of the way following Oswald's strange movements from the time he exited the front door of the Texas School Book Depository. He was like a mouse in a maze until his capture at the Texas Theater in Oak Cliff. I've also driven the route of the motorcade from Love Field to Parkland Hospital. Grasping the topography of the events of November 22, 1963 in Dallas gave me an eerie sense of the randomness of fate. When the seemingly ordinary movements of the alleged assassin crossed paths for a few moments in Dealey Plaza with the extraordinary procession for the President, our history was changed in an instant. I had that same sensation tracing Ruby's movements when he shot Oswald two days later. I realized it was only about a hundred steps for Ruby from the Western Union office to the basement of Dallas City Hall where in the blink of an eye and the flash of a gun he altered history in yet another totally unexpected twist. This is a serviceable, informative guidebook for the history buff who wants to visit these places in person, or get a picture of the Dallas layout when reading about the assassination.

Despite being an Oswald-did-it book, this is a very good addition to the library of anyone interested in the JFK Assassination. What I found most fascinating were the early pictures of the construction of Dealey Plaza. I've never seen them before. Dealey Plaza is such a unique and unusual place in our country.. it's primarily known as the location of Kennedy's Assassination. When a place is tied so closely to one particular event, it almost feels like it was built for that purpose. And to think of Kennedy in his late-teens in one part of the world while the scene of his ambush was being created elsewhere, is very spooky. I also like some of the now-and-then items they include, which many books in this "Images of America" series don't do. Could have used more of Parkland Hospital, as that place is a bit ignored compared to the attention given to others, but so many great pictures are in here that you won't find anywhere else.

I was interested in the whole Kennedy assassination here 50 years later. I wondered how many of the original sites still exist and how they looked today. This book gave an excellent presentation of the information I was seeking.

I went to Dallas for the 50-year commemoration of JFK's death. This book was very helpful in finding the many notable sites relating to the event.

I lived in Dallas after the Kennedy Assination. I stood behind the grassy knoll. That's where Kennedy was shot from....anyone could see. This book brought back many memories.

Overall I was pleased with most of this book. It could have used a few more pictures and larger map graphics.

Great detail and location references, I used as a guide on recent trip to explore these locations

A very good treasure trove of historic photos of the venues associated with Nov. 22, 1963. Photos taken during the Depression when the WPA was working on Dealey Plaza most interesting. I recommend this book!
