We bought Mission Barcelona, Paris and London for a recent trip to Europe with our 8 and 10 year old girls. These books were the one thing we would not leave home without. In Barcelona, the traditional adult guides left us cold. Mission Barcelona guided us through La Rambla and even led us to a gorgeous square the adults never would have found. I found the series to help engage the girls in some rather daunting museums and churches and would recommend the series to anyone traveling with children.
This series is so great for the kiddos. We had a day in Barcelona, and this was such a wonderful book for us and the three kids (5-13 years old). It was good for them and us parents. My kids didn't play the points game too much, but they checked stuff off the list. This book turned my 13 year old into a tour guide while my wife and I held hands walking down La Rambla. Awesome!
We took our 8 and 9 year old children to Europe for the first time this year, and used this as our guide in Barcelona. We allowed the kids to be 'in charge' of a day with this book. What a fantastic resource! Our daughter read the book several times before we left for our journey, and when we got to Barcelona, she was never off of her 'mission.' Both of them were eyes-wide-open looking for items in the book, which made everything more interesting for them (and then we didn't have any whining about more churches or sightseeing). Highly, highly recommend and we just wish there had been one of these for Madrid as well! Please write more!
We are halfway through our spain trip and I had to review this book. It's pretty much the only thing that is keeping my 7 year old engaged for our sightseeing. Without this book, his plane ticket would have been a waste. The writers have saved our trip!!! If you are reading this, thank you thank you thank you!!!!! Not only do I recommend this book, I advise not to travel with kids without it!
Fun, easy read. Great for kids -- and adults with short attention spans. It prompted me to read a full biography of the WWII double agent.
Very entertaining, lots of interesting areas to look for. Made me excited to go to bcn and start looking. I think the kids will have fun scavenging. I did just by reading the book.
A fabulous way to travel around town. We learnt about some may different things, took us to different parts. We loved doing it as a family activity.
I love these books! My kids are 12, 14 and 16 so I was afraid they might think they were "baby" books but they are enjoying them. I just wish there were books for London and Berlin.
